The New School Uniform Rules: How to Turn Fewer Branded Items Into Real Savings
Every August, the same question lands on kitchen tables across the country: how are we going to afford everything on the uniform list this year? Blazers, logo jumpers, PE kits, book bags — the total can climb faster than expected, especially with more than one child heading back to school. From September 2026, a change to the rules in England aims to take some of that pressure off, by limiting how many branded items a school can actually force you to buy. It won’t make uniform free, and it won’t work identically for every family, but it does give parents more room to plan, compare prices, and spend less on things that don’t need a logo.
